Sharing your music to social media is a powerful tool in getting tracks and albums out to current and new fans. It’s an effortless way to build upon your existing brand and expand your reach to promote your latest drops.
SoundCloud has an integration with Snapchat, Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories that allows you to share music straight to these social platforms from the SoundCloud app. Once your post is shared, it becomes a link that your followers can tap through to listen on SoundCloud.
Take a cue from rapper 2KBABY, on the benefits of utilizing social media to share music:
"I love the social sharing feature, man. It’s really just an easy way to get an idea of what your fans like, and what they want from your music,” he says. "I get a lot of feedback from my fans, [like] what their favorite tracks [are]. They even let me know about their playlists and what order they put their songs in [when sharing playlists]."
Here’s how it works:
In the latest version of the SoundCloud app, find the track, playlist, album or artist profile you want to share
Tap the share icon on your screen
Tap the Snapchat, Instagram or Facebook icon (whichever social you’re posting to). Depending on your device, it may show up as "Share to Snapchat," "Share to Instagram" or "Share to Facebook"
Include a personal touch by adding a caption and/or SoundCloud Giphy stickers. If you collaborated with other artists, be sure to @ them
Share the post to get your followers tuned in
Best practices:
Build your brand: We recommend promoting yourself frequently and sharing every time you have a new drop — this helps to build your brand as an artist
Save your SoundCloud posts as a Highlight: Save your SoundCloud posts as a Highlight to create a mini portfolio of your content. Your socials may be scanned by agents and labels, so Highlights are a great way to make sure your high-quality music files are one tap away.
Tag artists and collaborators: If you collaborated with other artists be sure to @ them — it’s a great way to shout them out, get them to repost to their social media accounts and get your followers to find out more about the people you worked with
Promote your successes: Did you get featured in a SoundCloud playlist like “Drippin’” or “Ear Candy”? Did your track hit 500 plays? Give yourself props and share the news with your followers
Encourage your followers to listen on SoundCloud: In order for your followers to actually hear the track you’re sharing, they have to tap into your post to be directed to SoundCloud where they can press play. Encourage your followers to do that by including a thoughtful caption and/or fun stickers and graphics to grab their attention (you can even search for our @SoundCloud Giphy sticker pack). Your fans will respond well to sincerity. Be true to yourself when sharing your music and use our tool set to help send your message
Share multiple times: Because Snapchat, Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories posts are only live for 24 hours, it’s possible that your followers may miss your post the first time around, depending on what day and time you share. Go ahead and share your new track a few times — but be sure to space out the posts
